Windows 8 sucks

I hate Windows 8!!!!!!!!
I had finally figured out my computer...(well sorta)  Then my computer died, dead, is no more.  So like a good little do bee I bought a new computer.  Whether you like it or not, you get Windows 8.  Well!  I DO NOT like it.  It's more user friendly.  My backside.  What is using this crap????  It isn't me.  This stupid thing is supposed to be working for me.  Not in this lifetime.
I can't find any of my pictures.  I reloaded a bunch from my camera and I can't get them from the computer.  Now I can't load any from my camera.
Maybe what I need is a 6 year old kid to come and show me how to use this.

Stupid Computer

My old computer died.
We bought a new one...

HOLY COW!!!!

Windows 8...  So far I found my email, But my pictures are gone.  Most of what I saved is gone.  I found Pintrest, and Facebook.

This is going to take time...a lot of time.

A reminder

Photo: <3

I saw this on Facebook today and really liked the sentiment.

I am so lucky to have met so many wonderful people in my life.
I have more friends than I can count.  I know people who do good
works everyday.  One friend collects Chemo Caps for people under-
going chemo treatment.  I have friends who crochet angels for
people who have lost loved ones or are ill.  And that is just a few.

I have a very illustrated life.

This is Raymond.  He was the star of Crochet with Raymond.
(A blog I used to read almost everyday.)
He left home (In New Zealand) and didn't return.
So Crochet with Raymond is going away.
I will miss them.
I cried when I read her last blog post.
I hope wherever Raymond is, he is happy and healthy.
Live Long and Prosper, Raymond.
I'll miss you.

Round is a Shape.

Photo: Awwww Cute <3 <3 Body Positive <3 <3
My good friend in North Carolina sent this lovely frog to me.
We have know each other since we were roommates in "Beautiful" 29 Palms.
I'm so glad she was there.  Without her and our other roommate it would
have been hell.  Thanks, Girls, for being my friends. I will always love them
for being there for me.

Live life like someone left the gate open.

I am not a dog person...BUT
I have had some dogs that I loved with most of all my heart.
It's funny the way that works...
You can give you whole heart to one being and still have more for others.

I cry at the commercials of abused animals.
Whe we get another pet...
It will come from the shelter.

Wishing you a Happy Day.

Good By Summer

Hope everyone is having a wonderful Labor Day Weekend.

That means the Summer is over.  We got rain yesterday just to make sure we knew that Summer has ended.  It's been in the high 70's or low 80's the past 2 days.  After being in the high 90's for the past two weeks, and the 100's before that.  It feel rather cool today.

The neighborhood has been quiet the past week with school starting on Monday.

Russell finally caught all the wild cats that have lived around our place for the past few years.  I have always had farel cars around.  I miss seeing them.

But as always, Life is Good.

It's a frogs life

These are the words I live by.
(Or at least I would like to.)

finished

I finished my socks a few days ago.  It's the first pair that the stripes match.  I started an afghan, but I really don't like the pattern so it's coming apart today.
Aside from that I'm just sitting at this dumb computer and wasting time.  Think I'll do for a walk.

See what I'm up to.

I just started these socks.  I picked up the yarn at Unraveled Sheep Yarn shop at 20% off
Because it's my birthday month and they offered a discount.

His sign says "Dis Zombie Luvs Uz"
He wanted to live with Rachel.  So he moved into
her room.

This is a Queen Ann's Lace shawl.  I pick up this yarn along with
the sock yarn for my birthday.

This is Rachel's little dog, Grizz.  He is my ever present
helper when I'm trying to crochet.  He gets his tail (that curls
over his back) tangled in my yarn and then walks away.
I yell, and he looks at me like, "What!  Did I do something.
I think he just loves my attention.

Edgar Allan Poe

El Dorado

by Edgar Allan Poe

   Gaily bedight,
   A gallant knight,
In sunshine and in shadow,
   Had journeyed long,
   Singing a song,
In search of Eldorado.

   But he grew old,
   This knight so bold,
And o'er his heart a shadow
   Fell as he found
   No spot of ground
That looked like Eldorado.

   And, as his strength
   Failed him at length,
He met a pilgrim shadow;
   "Shadow," said he,
   "Where can it be,
This land of Eldorado?"

   "Over the mountains
   Of the moon,
Down the valley of the shadow,
   Ride, boldly ride,"
   The shade replied,--
"If you seek for Eldorado!"

This is my favorite poem.
It was quoted in the movie "Eldorado" staring John Wayne, Robert Mitcham and James Caan.

Work on UFO's

I have spent the last week working on UFO's.
There are still a bunch of them in the basement.
But this was a start.

I started this sweater about 6 months ago.  It's a big round doily that became a sweater vest.
I think it turned out cute.

This is a baby afghan and hat for the U of U Medical Center
newborn intensive care unit.  I'll make some more to go with them.
I started this back in April.

This is a hanging towel, coaster set and dish clothes.
I forgot to put the one that is alone in the picture.

This is a couple of coasters and a bunch of dish clothes.

These are some doilies I sent to a friend.

The rest of these were just for fun.  I love to make doilies
between bigger projects.

I love the colors the thread comes in.

I had a very productive week.

Life is good here in Utah.  It's been hot, but today is just another beautiful summer day.

A trip to the zoo

This is Lexi and MaKenna.  Chris and I were their "Adult"
guides.   We went with The Dancing Moose school.
I enjoyed it much more than I thought I would.

We liked the elephants

This is the Polar Bear.  He was loving the swim.

This was the seal, but the picture didn't turn out very well.

It was a lovely day in June.  We got to ride a bus and everything.

Chris and I went to lunch afterwards.

Is it hot enough for you?

OMG!  Utah is on fire.  With the wind, and the hot tempretures, and the dry winter Fires are all over the state.  There were 6 new ones just this morning.  This is one thing about Summer that I don't like.

Garden

This is my beautiful red lily.

These are my day lilies.

These are tomatoes and lettuce.

More tomatoes and lettuce and some herbs.

These are squash and lavender.
And it is all in my front yard.

I love this time of year.

 I've been busy.
This is Pete.

 This is Mandy and Pete.

This is a Pink and black afghan that I started for a friend
of Rachel.  I gave the friend a different one.
I found it in the basement and decided to finish it.
I made it WIP Wednesday.

This is called Spider Web Doily.
I made it red for the fun of it.

These are net stockings for Rachel.  I hope she really
wears them some time.

 These are socks for me.
There is a way to make the stripes match, but I
really didn't want that.  I like them this way

This is a shawl that I started just to use up some of
the thread I have on cones.  It's done with 3 strands,
Navy blue, aqua, and purple.
I think Rachel has her eye on it.

This is a vintage pattern that I have always wanted to
make.  I reminds me of some Aunt Letha used to make.
She taught me how to crochet.  I think of her alot while
I crochet.

OOOPS...computer strikes again.

Found this one hiding on this stupid computer. I'll just keep plugging along and maybe I'll get better at this.

I posted 9 more pictures of Hawaii and when I tried to publish the post...the whole damn thing vanished. I hate computers some days.
Anyway Hawaii was wonderful.
I came home and went to work as a door greeter. It's kinda fun. Everyone at the store is very helpful and polite. They are really nice to the "new" kid on the block. I'm old enough to be the grandmother of most of these kids.
I called Social Security right after my birthday and was told that I needed one more quarter to qualify to receive Social Security. So...I'm back to work. Russ and I decided that I can use that money as well as the government. Maybe even better.

OOPS! Had to go

This is the resort where we stayed. The Royal Kona Resort. The other shots are from our balcany window.

This is where I drank tea every morning, and listened to the ocean and enjoyed Hawaii in all her glory.
These are from the drive we took to the black sand beach.

I found this hiding on my computer.  Someday I may figure out this thing.
