I can hardly believe that it has been nearly a month since I stopped by to let the world know what I've been doing.

I've been hiding out. The weatherman got one correct. We got a boat load of snow about two weeks ago and it was cold enough to make a polar bear shiver. There was 18 inches of snow on my front lawn for over a week. Now don't misunderstand I love snow...in the mountains, where it belongs. After all you can't ski on my lawn.

Russell and I ran away to Las Vegas for about a week. He likes to play poker. I like to people watch. It was very nice. (60 degrees and sunny)

My crochet hook has been busy. I finished my Bernat Mystery Afghan. It turned out very nice. I'm going to keep it.

I've made a mess of Chemo Caps for my friend to take to the Utah Cancer Foundation.
I made a bunch of snowflakes. I still have to block them.
I still make angels for Angels 4 Hope.
I made a cherry pie pin cushion and a gingerbread man bottle sitter.
I've been making Christmas presents for my friends and family.

Life is being very good to me. I am blessed.

I feel like this little squirrel. Can't get up enough energy to even start the car to go get gas.
Cloudy again today. Crappy Low Pressure weather.

I'd like to be in Hawaii in the sun near the beach. I could stand for hours and watch the Pacific.
Not to be at this time.

Winter

Winter has come to Salt Lake City, UTAH, USA. The picture is not Salt Lake City, but I thought it was pretty. I'd like it better with lush green leaves all around.

Tuesday

I decided the Phebe and Wanda needed a little brother soooo......
Here we are.

I saw this cute sock monkey pattern on a blog Sunday. I decided to make one. The pattern called for Red Heart Super Saver (#4), but I used sock weight (#2). their monkey measures 7" high and mine is 5" high. The pattern is Red Heart #LW2267 Sock Monkey Ornament. Just go to www.redhear.com.

I had a great time making the first one. My wonderful husband picked him up and said, "This guy needs to sit in my car and ride around with me." So off they went on the adventure of going to work. I'll see the monkey again next time I get into Russell's car.

So I made another one.

I caught a nasty cold last week and have stayed home all week with coughing, sniffling, and gunky feeling. Today I feel much better. I went over to vote this morning. I believe that if you don't vote, you gots not right to bit--. And there is NO WAY that I will be quiet for 2 years.

John and Lily were blessed with Morgana Gwen on October 25. So now I am the proud granny of 21 grandkids.

Life is Good.

Sun is shinning and the sky is blue.

Frogging

I'm spending the day frogging.
I crocheted a "sweater", that looked more like a king-size blanket.

It's from a new book I picked up while at Gardner Village last week. It's Crochet Wear, by Ann Regis. I really liked the look of this sweater, but mine just didn't turn out like it. I worked on it all weekend.

But now...

I love this yarn. I picked it up at Joann's awhile back. It's on sale right now. Anyway... It's big enough for a small elephant. Soooo. It's frogging time.

My darling husband said that I could leave it and wear it like an afghan when it gets cold this winter. I looked at it this morning and decided that I would never use it that way.

It will probably take me all day to frog it.

The weather is changing. Today is going to be beautiful and warm, but by Saturday we get storms and colder. By Thursday we may get sn--. I am NOT ready for Winter and the "S" word.

Thinking

I was just thinking...
I didn't even leave the house today. Dull does NOT describe my day. I even turned off the television.
I'm listening to Classical Music on KBYU radio.
I got my granny squares ready to send off. They'll be going out tomorrow.

EEEEEKKK!!! The news! On the stupid radio. Must turn it off.

I have crocheted a little today. I can hardly wait for the Bernat Blog about the Mystery Afghan Crochet Along tomorrow. I'm making two of them just for fun. I'll probably give them away when I get them finished.

Looked at the blogs I'm following today. Everyone is so busy and creative. I love to see what the rest of the crochet world is up to. There are so many creative people in the world.

Have you ever thought about how lucky we are? There is so much beauty in our world.
LIFE IS GOOD.

Happy October

This is a lazy day.

Today is the first of October. Sunny and warm here in Utah. But the weatherman says it isn't going to last.

It's Breast Cancer Awareness Month. So wear Pink whenever you can.I'd like to thank all my friends (including my kids and my sister) for hanging with me through all the stuff over the years. Without you my like would be so empty.

Must tell you of my little granddaughter, Lexi.

The other night Chris hear a noise after putting Lexi to bed. Chris opened the door to check on her. Lexi was standing on her chair in the center of her room naked, shinning her dinosaur flashlight on the ceiling and growling.

Chris asked, "What are you doing?"

Lexi said, "monsters, Mom"

"Ok, why?"

"Day scared. I show dem my light."

"Where are your clothes?"

"Me diaper wet, so I throw it in the corner." and pointed to it.

"Where are you pajamas?"

"Over dare." and pointed to another corner.

"Get down and put the flashlight away."

"Mom, monsters scared. I show dem my light."

"Do you want to go to be in your birthday suit?"

"Me not wear suit. Me naked."

"Ok, let's put another diaper and new pajamas on."

"K."

So Lexi got down and they got her into her pajamas. But she didn't want to put down the flashlight. After all the Monsters were scared. So Chris told her she could keep the flashlight and hold it to shine it for the monsters.

Lexi snuggled down into the bed. And Chris didn't hear from her again until morning.

There is just no arguing with a two-year-old.
My sister made this monster. We tell Lexi that these monsters won't hurt her.

Lexi is a fun kid.
And I do not spoil that child.

Chris called me to tell me this story the day after. We had a good laugh over this story.

I'm so glad I have these people in my life.

The more you love, the more you can love.

Fair pictures

These are the things I took to the State Fair. It was such fun.
Planning on doing some next year also.

Rambling

When I started this, I planned on writing something everyday. As you can tell. I haven't kept that up.

Some days I just don't have anything to say. Reporting on the weather gets so dull.

It's Autumn. Summer is over. It will soon be the Holidays.
I'm going to put up my Christmas lights next week. My neighbors will hate it. But I don't like the cold weather and would rather put the lights up while it's still warm. I know it's only September, but I won't turn them on until Thanksgiving.

I won 4 blue ribbons, 2 red ribbons, and 1 white ribbon at the State Fair. They thanked me for participating and invited me to come back next year. They asked me to demonstrate crochet next year. I think that sounds like fun.

So I have rambled on enough for one day. More soon.

2nd-hand shopping

I hit 2 of my favorite stores today. I got a mess of yarn, 3 Barbie Dolls, and a book on how to sell my stuff. (I might even read this one.) Had a wonderful time. The Savor's store always has a bunch of yarn. (Like I need more.)

Went to the Aquarium with my daughter and her little one. We got to see all the frogs. They are so cute. It was great fun.
Now I have to roll some of this yarn before it gets to be a bigger mess.
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. Russell and I are going out to Wendover, NV again this weekend. I'm going to win more this time.
Hugz.

Frantic Friday

Somethings are just named incorrectly.

Today is peaceful and quiet.
Two very nice men came out and fixed the garage door this morning. I tidied up the garage a little bit.
I got the dishes done.
I've made a Chemo cap. I've played on the Internet. I've copied some patterns.
I think I'll go second-hand shopping.
More later, maybe.

Monday, September 6, 2010

I didn't put Agnes or Lily Beth in the fair. Just Phebe. They said I could only put one of my dolls in. So I picked Phebe.

It's Labor Day and it feels like Autumn. Summer is over for another year. Boy! this one was short. The temperature only got up to 100 degrees for a couple of days. It's hard to believe Global Warming when Summer only lasts two weeks. May and June were below normal and July was only HOT for the last week and August was below normal, too. The sun is shinning so it's alright.

Life is Good.

Utah State Fair Entries

I'm off to the State Fair Grounds to enter my "stuff". I'm entering 10 Items this year. I'm having such fun. (Lily Beth has her green and purple dress on, but I couldn't find her Picture)

I have a large Granny Afghan, Agnes, and a Barbie Bridal Doll. (Don't have picture of Barbie, yet)

I met my cousin for lunch yesterday. I took Phebe along because Laurl had asked to see her. It's fun to show my babies.
As long as I have my crochet hook I'll be fine.

Saturday, August 28, 2010

Finished Phebe

This is Phebe. Step by step. She took a week, but I think she was well worth the effort.
My (doll) family is growing.
I'm have so much fun making "babies."
It's Saturday and all is right in my world.

Salt Lake County Fair

These are pictures of the things I entered in the Salt Lake County Fair. I got a ribbon on everything I entered. 5 Blue ribbons and 7 red ones.

It was great fun to see them displayed at the fair.

Proof that my crocheting is not a waste of time. Besides it keeps me from killing anyone.

Now I'm going to mail the yellow Barbie dress off to a friend in the Barbie group exchange. That's another way I have fun with my crocheting.

I'm working on my African Flowers for that exchange now.
Gotta get back to my crochet hook.
LIFE IS GOOD!

Gift to me.

I got the pictures uploaded. This is the trip I gave myself for my birthday. I drove up Little Cottonwood Canyon to the tram at Snowbird, Utah, USA. I enjoyed it so much.

The first 2 are before entering the building to the tram.

The last 2 are where the tram stops at the top of the mountain.

I'm still figuring out how to add photos. But I'm getting better.
It was a beautiful day.
Yesterday Russell and I went out to Wendover, Nevada. We had a very nice trip. Neither of us won any money at the casinos, but it was still fun.
For my birthday 4 of my 7 kids called. Chris wished me a happy birthday a couple of days before. So I got good wishes from 5 of the kids. Not bad!
My blackberries are wonderful this year. I have to pick them today.
And I have another tomato to pick today.
Life just keeps getting better.

Friday, August 6, 2010

Tomorrow is my birthday. I have nothing planned.

Today, I gave myself a from me to me present. I took myself to Snowbird and rode the tram. The canyon is so beautiful. (Pictures to follow.)

I got thinking about all the things I used to enjoy. Going up the canyon was one of them. I decided that if I want to do the things I love, I'll have to do them alone.

My darling husband works out in the weather all week and by the weekend he just wants to sit around the house and relax. Since my retirement, I am home most of the week. By the weekend I want to do something away from the house. I decided that there is no reason I can't do what I want during the week while my wonderful husband is working.

All of my kids work. My girlfriends are either working or moved away. Hence I will have to go alone.

So today I did. I met some very nice people at the top of the canyon. Jim and Patty from the Bay Area. (That's around San Francisco, California.) I talked to Jim the whole time we were at the top and on the way back down on the tram.

He's afraid of heights, too. So we got to talking while everyone else was looking off the top. (Beautiful view.)

Sheep

I found these little sheep on my couch this afternoon. I saw them on a blog named Aluajala's cockroaches. I liked them so I copied the pattern and made these two little guys.
Here's the site if you are interested: hhtp://aluajala.blogspot.com/2010/05/crochet-sheep-free-pattern.html Good Luck.
I really enjoyed making them. And they don't take very long.

I went to lunch with my friend Lorene today. It was great. We met in Payson. That is about 70 miles south of Salt Lake City, Utah. It was a very nice drive. I-15 is a mess, but the drivers were being good today.

This is a doily that Doris brought into our crochet class on Monday. I made one like it and wrote down the pattern for her. She said that this was in daughter-in-laws. They think her grandmother made it about 50 years ago. So they didn't have a pattern.
A million years ago, when my Aunt Letha taught me to crochet, she said, "If you learn to read a patterns you'll be able to make anything. If you only learn to take a pattern from a piece that is already made, you'll never learn to read a pattern." I guess she was right. I'm so glad she took the time and energy to teach me to crochet. I will always love her for that. She went on to her just desserts 33 years ago, and I still miss being able to ask her advice on what I am crocheting.

Remember...It is not what you have that makes you important...It is just being you.
Life is good.

Sunday, again?

WOW! Here it is Sunday again. The three day weekend is gone and I didn't do anything. I am getting so dull. I have made up my mind to do things during the week, because my lovely husband just wants to sit around home and do basically nothing. Sooooo, this week I'm going to ride the tram at Snowbird. I'm taking my camera and my crocheting and just enjoy the day. I think Wednesday will be a good day to do that.

The sun is shinning and the sky is blue. I love summer.

One more

I found another one. Her name is Bella. I got her picture in my tomato plant.
I thought I had seen the last of them. But this afternoon she showed up.
This is great fun.
Got Marie's sweather mailed off today. I hope she likes it.

My mind has wondered away. I thought I had something to write today, but alas, no earth shattering thoughts to share today.

Love to all.

New baby

This little angel is Wendy Loraine Tuero. She is my 21st grandchild. She was born July 8, 2010 at 4:30 p.m. She weighed 7 lbs. and was 18 inches tall. She's a little cutie, but then I am Granny.

So this is short because life around here is crazy.

Tuesday, July 6, 2010

See what I did.

This is Pam's sweater. I hope she likes it.

These are some of the aliens who have invaded my home. They are very friendly. They're are easy to talk to and never spread gossip. They don't talk much, but then...Who need a noisy alien?

The one is named Flower. She brightens my day when I see her in the morning. She sits on my monitor.

This one is going to live with Wendy. She said that she would like one. I just hope she doesn't multiply like the other have.

Life is good.

Now I have to get back to making angels, scarves, chemo caps, baby afghans, and Marie's sweater.

REMEMBER...When in trouble or doubt - run in circles, scream and shout.

Friday, July 2, 2010

Three done.

Marie's sweater is the only one I didn't get finished this week. Pam's sweater is so cute. I'm glad she asked for it. I had so much fun making it.

I'll post pictures next week, when Marie's sweater is finished.

I have to get back to my crochet hook. It's feeling abandoned.
I picked up some more yarn at the second-hand store the other day and it is calling to me, too. Gotta go.

Thursday, July 1, 2010

Forward

Finished the baby afghan yesterday. I am making progress with the UFOs upstairs. I'll venture down to the basement, maybe, next week. I know there are more UFOs down there.

I feel like I am accomplishing something. I can pick up the crocheting and hold it in my hands. That is a very satisfying feeling. Besides that, it's a lot of fun. The aliens make my giggle. That kind of invasion is fun. And a very effective stash buster.

The wind is blowing today. It seems less hot because of the wind. But 97 is 97 no matter how windy it is.

I am working on Pam's sweater today. I love the pink yarns that I'm working with.
Marie's sweater is next. Then on to the basement, maybe.)

One down

I finished the vest. One down 30 to go. But it's better then yesterday when I had about 31 to go.

My latest alien when to live with Lexi. Spent the day with Chris and Lexi. Lexi carried the alien everywhere she went so I left him with her.

I don't have quite so many UFOs now. I'll work on the UFOs and the WIPs more tomorrow.

When I get them all (well, more of them) done, I'll post more photos.

Summer is so wonderful.

Monday, June 28, 2010

Another one

There is another one.

I think I know where they are coming from. I have a mess of UFOs (Un-Finished- Objects.) I think they are coming from them.

Here are just a few of my UFOs.
Maybe when I finish my UFOs the aliens will stop showing up. Probably not. I think they like me.
Anyway this is going to be finish-up week. I'm going to finish Marie's sweater, Pam's sweater, a vest, and the baby afghan I started months ago. Then I'm going to go in the basement and find some of the other UFOs I have down there.

I made some chemo caps over the weekend. I gave them away.

I'm going to work on some scarves this week, too. I want to make a scarf run next week. I have some lovely red, white, and blue yarn that would make very nice scarves.

I'm going to make a few more Barbie gowns, too.

Let's just see how much of this I get to this week. Wish me luck or pray for me. Which ever you believe in.

Love isn't love 'til you give it away. Share. Almost everything is better when you share.

Big guy

I didn't make the big guy. My sister, Letha, did. I love him. Isn't he great?

Life is an adventure. Go with it.

Aliens (again)

Here are the aliens. The big guy is their leader.

I'm getting the hang of the blogging thing. (I hope.)

Alien Invasion

My home has been invaded by little aliens. I don't know what planet they are from. But I know they aren't human. (I've been having alot of fun making them."

The big guy on the right was made by my sister, Letha. I think he is their leader. They seen to spend alot of time together.

Summer has finally come to the Salt Lake Valley. It's 96 today. I love it.

I've been crocheting granny squares for the granny square exchange, African flowers for that exchange, and a bunch of other stuff just for fun. I've made some fun baby booties.

I'm still having problems with adding pictures to this blog. Rachel tried to show me, but I'm a bit dense. I'll have to ask her to show me again.

HEY!!!!! Look what I did. Now if I can just remember what I did.

Back to my crochet hook and fun.

May the warmth of love be always in your life.

HOME

I'm home from my visit to Iowa. We had a great trip. Visited with Letha (The little sister.) and her husband and his relatives. Went to see the bridges of Madison County. NEAT. I left my camera at the house. Went shopping. Bought more yarn. Good prices.

Got lost on the way home. Spent an hour getting lost in Iowa and then got lost and found ourselves in Colorado. Missed a turn-off to I-80 and wound up on I-76. 'Bout 20 miles out of the way.

Then...found BAD weather from Iowa to Salt Lake City. SNOW outside of Rocks Springs, Wyoming. Imagine snow in June and almost the middle of June at that.
It was pretty, but not to drive in.

Glad to be home.

Walking 2

I DID IT. I walked the whole 5K. Got a certificate. (Yippeeee)
Both Rachel and Chris were late so I didn't see either of them. OH Well. I talked to alot of the other walkers. I walked with Billy the last part of the race. She had her little dog with her. We were slow, but we weren't last. We talked about all kinds of things. It was like we had been friends for years. Instead of just meeting. At the end she introduced me to her sister. Both very nice ladies.

The weather was lovely.

It's lovely out today, too. It's going to be warm, but by Thursday it's supposed to back to the low 60's. Springtime in the Rockies. I love it.

Hope your day is good.

Saturday, June 5, 2010

Walking

This afternoon I'll be going for a 5K walk with the Weight Watchers group I meet with on Saturday mornings. Rachel and Chris along with Lexi are coming along. I'm really looking forward to it. Maybe afterward we'll go to lunch. Depends on what the girls have planned.

The weather is perfect for a long walk. Should be great fun.

80 degrees?

Welcome to Springtime in Utah. Two days ago it was 67 degrees, cloudy with 60% chance of rain. And today it's 80 with clouds and humidity.
I do NOT like to sweat.
Tough...Deal with it.

At least the sun is shining.

I made a cute little doll. I finished her this morning.

Someday I'm going to figure out how to put pictures in the body of this blog. These silly computers have always made me feel dumb. But when I get too frustrated I can turn the stupid thing off.

I walked up to the gas station to get my iced tea this morning. It's about 3/4 mile. Takes about 20 minutes.
Anyway...On the way home I was thinking about my father. He passed away 34 years ago, and I still miss him. He had a dry sense of humor. My older sister would cry when he talked to her, because she has NO sense of humor. She thought that he was being mean.

One day I was going on and on about what I wanted in a husband. I was about 15. Daddy just looked at me and asked, "And when you find this man, What is going to want with you?"

At first it seemed mean, but in Daddy's way he was telling me to make something of myself first. He was very wise.

Guess Father's Day coming up triggered that.

MUST get back to my crochet.

I'm working on more scarves, grannies, and Africian Flowers. (And maybe some more babies.)

Wednesday, June 2, 2010

Sun, Partly Cloudy

Spring may have finally made it to Utah. It sure took it's sweet time.

Russ stayed home from work today. I get nothing done when he's home. What will I do when he retires.

Amanda called to ask if I would come out and braid Eliana's hair for her graduation tomorrow. So I'll be going out there this evening.

Remember you are not crazy...Everyone else is crazy.

Julia and Julia

I just watched Julia and Julia (the movie). What a fun show. I had no idea what fun Julia Child was.
This movie made Blogging look so easy. But it gave me some ideas.

These idea will probably wander away like their relatives. I have all these great thoughts. Then they just disappear. go figure.
Someday I'm going to follow them and see where they get off to.

I've been working on the sweater for Marie. I'm not thrilled with it, so it's hard to work on it. It will be lovely when (if) I finish it. I'm using Lion Brand Homespun in a lovely ivory. I took the left side apart 3 times before I was happy with it. I have the back, left side, right side and part of one sleeve complete. I should just get it done. Maybe later.

I've also been working on scarves, hot pads, granny squares, and baby things. OH! and doilies.

I planted lettuce this morning. I put a piece of screen over it to keep the cats from using it as a litter box. Dumb cats.

We have about 4 cats who live in out garage. They are very WILD. They run and hide whenever they see me. I keep feeding them. But one of these days I am going to get tired of feeding something that hates me. I talk to them when I go into the garage. I don't think they understand. Dumb cats.

My tomatoes and peppers are doing well. They have grown about two inches.

My iris are in bloom. I love this time of year. Everything is so beautiful. And today the sun is shinning. The sky is clear and It's about 73 degrees. A perfect day.

Thursday, May 27, 2010

This is the afghan I did for Becky. She got it this morning.

Life is good.
